a) just because it looks as though a 5 year old did it, don't be fooled.
a 5 yr old DIDN'T do it...a grown up thinking person did....there's a big difference.B) modern or abstract or whatever art, often isn't meant to be looked at like a painting of a tree...many times it's intended to be a study on shape, colour, expression of something...
C) it can often be part of a larger cycle of works, where one is intended to look at the whole cycle to see the artists intent. each piece being one element in the larger whole. each piece is relevant tho, as part of the overall journey.
D) just because YOU don't understand it (and i'm looking at you qcruise ;) doesn't make it more or less a work of art.
sometimes ya get it, sometimes ya don't...but that it IS art is without question.E) Dada exhibitions often drew a fair bit of anger since normally, bicycle wheels nailed to a stool aren't considered great works of art.....now of course we look at the DADA movement with the benefit of hindsight and realize how relevant and worthwhile it was...an incredibly important moment in art history as viable as any other...
now...that is what i remember from art history, taught be an incredible teacher that truly got it...and was a working artist to boot...not just some guy with a text book...
anyhow, thats my opinion...
would i buy em?
no...hell no...i think its crap.
but then again, i also think it's art...
i don't happen to dig it myself,
but i wouldn't say he's not an artist.but thats just my opinion...

I think you should do a live broadcast of your wedding, MX. That way we can see a glimpse of the couple. The rest of the time will undoubtedly be composed of chossy staring at the camera.

haha Jaline, been suggested already.
Would that be art?
- Jaline0
It would be. Just make sure you get the cutlery right ;)

teh suck.
If he could use the pixilated effect and cut them into squares, that would gain at least some respect.
Perhaps even better, would be to use that image as a guide, and find individual materials to create one large image.
i would call that art.
otherwise this is bullocks.

late jumping in the fray here but I think the title of this post biases your thoughts before you even see the shit.
For a guy who apparently has no skill and exerted minimal effort on his works he sure has managed to garner a lot of discussion about his work.
I like art that provokes.
And for that matter, Picasso's works provokes me to skitzophrenia.
I mean did u see the one with the bald guy with his hands over his ears and his mouth open? WTF is that?

if you want hilarity get a bunch of trained illustrators in a room discussing picasso or van gogh...
it will get ugly...
or for that matter get a bunch of artists in a room discussing trained illustrators like rockwell or n.c.wyeth
i once met a girl who had her master's degree in photography but never had used a camera in any of her work... she flatbed scanned found objects and composed them in photoshop...
art is strange and wacky and can frustrate people at times...
the only solid truth that i've learned in my short career is that the art department girls were always hotter than the business major girls.
