don't have time to read other posts, but my reaction is...
The action of the artist, albeit an absurd one, is sort of the piece itself. The images are like a byproduct of the artists' work. The piece or performance is the absurd and obvious way in how the original images are exploited and reused. In buying one of them, you are sort of buying a souveneir of the piece.

wiat, I think I get his pieces now. They're not clever, just based on bad puns.
The images are blown up, once in this state they are full of digital artifacts.
See what he did there? he added 'artifacts', in spanish this could be spelled as 'art y facts', meaning literally 'art and facts'
clever, he takes found images and turns them into both art and facts.
simple really, but very deep. Discussing the subjecive nature of the art and the objective nature of the facts.

that's the problem with art. just because you find words to justify it doesn't make it more real and a fact of art. in fact, if it was art it would need no words to become a fact. it would be evident - as facts usually are.

yeah, blowing up a picture and printing it is not art.

Do you think that to become an internationally renowned artist his work wouldn't have been scrutinised by critics at every juncture who would have picked at his shit with far more acute minds than those being wielded here?

the art is the whole process of his becoming famous and recognised enough to have people put his work in a gallery, conception and execution of the pieces, with whatever arbitrary 'craft' or skill this is done, the exhibition of the piece, and your response to it.. its one process, one action..summarily, taking wobbly jpegs of 2 lesbians and selling it for 100s of dollars whilst creating a whirlwind of discussion thereabout is pretty crafty, well done that man, even if the execution took only 2 minutes.
