why would anybody want to carry around a packet of american hard gums anyway what help would that be in fending of the fevered rage of a bear and or an oscelot hell bent on sinking it's teeth into your rump, hell I would carry a hollow pipe good for the fast swinging and I would also carry a cat 'o' nine tails simply cause it makes for a satisfying whip crack and boy the names mysterious too, like the time I ordered 'The six mountains Six deaths' curry from the 'Navids Nivrvana' indian takeaway, I was so enamoured by the name I just had to purchase it. It felt like I had actually passed six mountains the nex morning and hell each time I thought I would die :/

hey, chossy, you start walking around with cat o' nine tails and i'll bet you get really popular with the leather crowd in short order.
then we'll see who's too tough to pack heat.

I've never had an experience in my life where a handgun would have saved me.
Can't we settle everything with 30's style boxing or a broken bottle, like The Outsiders?

i do own a gun (not a handgun, but a rifle) and it is not at my place. my dad bought it for me years ago for my birthday (21st). i told him he can keep it at his place. i'm not a fan of guns, and find that most people that actually take it a step farther and carry one(only a couple people i even associate with) are paranoid schizos.
that last part was a lie. i don't hang out with anyone that carries a gun...at least i don't think so.
i kind of associate people that carry guns with people that drive hummers...scared and tiny....usually.

"Personally, I think even a civilian with a lot of training (non-military, non-police) are not going to know the first thing about handling their gun when conflict ACTUALLY arises. You're scared, your adrenaline is pumping and things are happening fast... there's just a lot of opportunity for people to get shot when they shouldn't, or the wrong person to get shot, or an innocent bystander to get shot, for the criminal to end up with your gun, or to even shoot yourself. Jeez, even the police accidentally shoot people more often than we like to hear about."

I think if you want a weapon to defend yourself, you should at least learn how to defend yourself w/o one. A lot of self defense is not succumbing to fear when a crisis arises. In the forum someone said this :
"Not martial arts, but the type of class the teaches you how to use your keys as a weapon and how to break free of a choke hold."
If you learn something in a self defense seminar, odds are you won't remember it in a panic.
I study jujitsu and judo. It has definitely sharpened my senses, in regards to all types of conflicts.
Edd-e is also a ninja.
