teh 50mm 1.8 is as cheap as fuck - I can get it for 120-130 eu here, and its a great lens!

are you sure it is the nikon one?
otherwise it could be a different version, in the past you had price difference because on lense had a plastic body while the other had metal...hmm..
any examples of that pricing?

Jaline, take a look around for older dslr cams, they come cheap and often offer quite a lot. While waiting for the new Pentax K10D premiere (it was delayed some 4 months) I bought a Canon D30 (not 30D)

I used to have one like that 2 years ago, my gf never forgave me selling it, that was one of the reasons to buy it again. It cost only 200 Euro now, funny money compared to 2800 6 years ago.From newer cameras, I think the cheapest is Pentax K110D - a K100 without a stabilizer. You can find it for as low as US$400

it's plastic actually, the 1.4 might be around 300 and has metal body..
but this one is ace for the price!

Jaline, you won't get much for an used slr, you might want to keep it just for some film fun in the future and it might make sense to continue with canon. The lens will work on a canon dslr, but the range will be barely usable (multiplied by 1.6) and quality might not be satisfactory.. I was shocked when I put standard slr lens on a dslr - all optical flaws are well visible on the digital

thanks again, raf. I figured I wouldn't get that much but it doesn't hurt to try ;)
Plus, I only used it once before. Obviously I have no proof of that and I live in Ottawa (so not as many people use Craigslist), but I'll post it up at various places and see what comes along.
Since I'm a poor student it'll be helpful to get a few hundred bucks before searching for a digital SLR. If that fails, I'll just get a used one (a good one, obviously), or a regular digital camera (not SLR).

Actually, I'll have a lot of money over the summer (since I work nearly everyday then) so I can think about it seriously at that time.
