Jaline, take a look around for older dslr cams, they come cheap and often offer quite a lot. While waiting for the new Pentax K10D premiere (it was delayed some 4 months) I bought a Canon D30 (not 30D)
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/… It was introduced in 2000, cost a fortune then. It is only 3.3MP - but it's enough for a lot. I even had a concert picture taken with it printed in a newspaper recently.
I used to have one like that 2 years ago, my gf never forgave me selling it, that was one of the reasons to buy it again. It cost only 200 Euro now, funny money compared to 2800 6 years ago.From newer cameras, I think the cheapest is Pentax K110D - a K100 without a stabilizer. You can find it for as low as US$400
