I aspire to High Utilitarianism and have applied my own value system throughout my 'career'.
However, the reach of my values stops where the reach of an opposing value system reaches to.
I for one, don't mind marketing cigarettes - more cigarettes = easier population control, imo. However, other people despise cigarettes but love needless consumerism.
Unless i start a swift and ruthless campaign of surgical decapitaions, uneasy bedfellows these competing ideals will have to make. Sadly, that's the reality.
another thing:
brand values != moral valuesor am I missing something?

"the problem is, if you are good enough to turn down work based on your values. there will be a valueless tool that will do the work for half the cost and allow substandard design values to flourish"

You guys are not understanding the context of the word 'value' as used in the documents
- ********0
half the time work is turned down because they don't know how to design for a particular product.
- ********0
value = good vs bad, moral vs immoral, change vs status quo, justice vs corruption. I think I get it, try all you want to change that shit with design. It's not gonna happen.
- 305artist0
nope, try again.

theres a difference between selling cigarettes to the public, and selling cigarettes to kids.

thats funny, cause one of the cats who wrote the 00 spoke to us while I was in school. Thats what it meant to him.
- Mimio0
I think they mean "value" in a more a socialogical way, like "use value" which is a kind of benefit to a person's life outside of corporate interest/messages.
- 305artist0
Its pretty obvious that they mean value in a mathematical context i.e. x,y's
- ********0
