Cmon now, Graphic design without values is just art.
Design needs values.

.you mean like "fuck bush" and "buy my nike shoes" values simultaneously?
- kelpie0
what about the value to best represent the people who are paying you, even if they want you to do things you don't agree with?

i agree on both accounts witt

Art is commodified too. Patrons just invest in the artist so he'll hold up the mirror to society a little longer maybe, so maybe his/her value will become part of their own.

Anyone that thinks that graphic design doesnt need value has never rebranded a television network.
There need to be rules established. If you dont believe that then your in the wrong field.

i just said it. it's been like that for a few years now. crappy values. fake ones. most of the time. not everyone of course.

thanks mimeartist your arguementitive skills are too much for me and fail to respond to such a well educated answer.... as for you reading either of the FTF's i feel you would be better of reading "how to have a constructive arguement for dummies" first.

the problem is, if you are good enough to turn down work based on your values. there will be a valueless tool that will do the work for half the cost and allow substandard design values to flourish
