ok project, good hours?

even with a hot project, I can't bring myself to do the crazy hours

that's the second time this weekend that you've made me indent my computer table from underneath, e-pillager.
...there's these two lil bumps that make keyboard wobble...
... i can't even tell you the hell i'm enduring w/my mouse.

rand,
i feel the same way. doesn't it mean i should stick to what i already have?i feel like my life is full of compromises but then again, i have other interests other than spending 12hrs/day in the office.

anyone else?

use the first few weeks of cocking around wisely... whichever poroject you look at, there was always a lot of dead time at the start.
- Rand0
I just took on something I shouldn't have, because it was an interesting project for a change, but I know myself well enought to realize I'll probably just blow deadlines rather than work long hours

ok project, good hours

I don't mind putting in the extra time on a good project, just not all the time. Is there any OT or bonus cash in the pot? That helps.

hot and crazy sharpens your perception.

throw away your watch and just enjoy it.

well, i am sitting on a very comfortable position at the current place but bored as hell and not that creative.
so this opportunity seems very tempting. their rate is good and the account i'll be on be a lot of fun. but this company just merged with another 6mo ago. and recently lost a big business. it could be a shit show. it's always different one you are in and looking from inside out.

To be honest, I don't know why you're asking a load of people who spend all day bitching about long hours and stupid clients if you should work long hours.
I personally won't work long hours anymore as I don't believe there's any place for 12+ hour days in this industry and the sooner people stop doing them and clients and companies sort out proper timescales for projects rather than relying on creatives to "get the job done" the better off we'll all be.
I have a 3 hour commute to add to add to my working day so to reiterate, fuck long hours.

jumble,
i hear you. it's sad that this tends to be the nature of business.i think i am just trying to justify my position since i somehow think, this time, it's different. but after so many years and at so many different companies, i never liked any of them...
- jamble0
yeah, sorry, was ranting :D
I guess it's up to you, if you're a dynamic young single type who has the lifestyle and energy to work the longer hours then go for it if it's a good project.
If you're a knackered old [sic] duffer like me who's already bored of the prospect of spending time behind a computer then avoid./

Quesion is what do YOU want? If you are in a pretty good condition and ur love for this business is real, why not taking the project? We all love to work with big and important clients, besides it might make you feel good. If you are tight (money/time) then just let it go.

all depends on the pay and flexibility of said hours. If I can work 8-9 go home, relax for a bit, then work some more from my house when it demands it. we're good. if they want you to work 12 hrs straight at the office only... um no thanks. Work hour flexibility is the key to that situation... and good pay of course.

i think they can be flexible. and i can choose a day rate or hourly rate. no OT rate so flat hourly.
i'll have to get more info but i think hours will be 10-8 or something, i am hoping. compare to 10-6 now. the cd there was pretty cool and he wasn't trying to make it all sound fany but they wanted to do good work, very simple, which i liked.
pay will be better at the new place.
oh well, i need to think about this more.
