had a recent breakup. it was mutual, but the thoughts of them with someone else is sickening ... even after a week. any suggestions/advice to kick this shit out of my head?

Reinvent yourself or part of yourself. Take on a new goal or pursuit. It helps to restart your life in a way that is entirely your own, and not related to your "former" life.

How long were you two together?
There is some math behind it. If you were together for a year it should take you about 3-4 months to be over her.
Having 'been there done that' I know exactly what you mean. I went through the same thing.
My advice? Surround yourself with your very close friends. Pick up a new time consuming hobby. (A good book, new video game, running), hit the gym and listen to your favorite music. Do things to help you get your mind off her and what she may or may not be doing.
The worst possible thing you can do is sit at home thinking about it alone.
Friends are called friends for a reason. Give em a call.

Get a journal, and write everything your thinking down. Reread everything you write each week. After a month, you'll see the progress. Did i mention that you shouldn't call her yet? And don't worry, you'll be fine. The next girl will be even better. Don't look back, always forward.

When I split with my ex (also after nearly 4 years), I threw myself into work and took on new creative avenues. They were completely my own and nothing I had ever done while with my ex. It does take a while though.

Get back on ya Bike and start sleeping around. Or just start dating girls... it takes your mind off the ex. Trust me i'm in the same situation at the moment.

DSTND. I was with a girl for 3 years and she cheated on me with my best friend. Took me almost a solid year to be fully over her.
It was horrible. I don't think I could have done it without good friends who knew what I was going through and knew enough to keep that shit off my mind.
It's gonna be tuff, but months from now when you're dating someone new and things are great you're going to be like 'x girlfriend who?' while you're having a three-some with twins.
