I haven't got time to read all of the responses -someone mentioned how boring some labels were getting/are.
I thought I might throw in the mix these covers by Penfolds
I really like them - others seem pretty peturbed.

real, real life.
Jaline
(Dec 3 06, 18:43)so there's a reality beyond reality?
Witt
(Dec 3 06, 18:59)exactly my point
also, a part of my essay (for school, due tomorrow) has to do with Wittgenstein.

I gotta say i really like these. sure it gives the feel of a beginners brand of wine but hey..... this looks cool! I would suggest trying to tie in the brand a bit on the front. but other than that its a cool idea and appealing design. Im sure most designers here would notice it on a shelf (don't lie)
as for the comment about this looking like siscotts work... get over it. we are graphic designers and we feed off every design element and everything we come in contact with, thats what its all about.
In my opinion comments like that are unproductive and come off as negative. Im just saying dont let comments like that stop you from taking off with your creativity.awesome work and good luck ;)

well I guess that depends on whether you are comfortable building a brand based upon a current design trend or if you are trying to create something with longevity. That would depend upon the brief.

Branding does happen (a little) on the tops and back of the label, it's just removed from the front.
In terms of creating loyalty.. ehh, probably not so much.
But there will always be an audience out there new to wine, intimidated by Chateau du Vieux Corbeau.
The question I really want to answer, is does it hit this market?
Thanks for the comments so far, I really appreciate them... Learning tons.

I don't know much about wine or design, all I know is that I would never buy these bottles. They look as though they are trying to be young, hip, different and may very well include a Bearbrick toy or something like that...
But I'm not your target market so, take me,
with a grain,
of
salt...

three cheers for ned. i would only drink the scratchy one.

as a drinker, who cares little for the contents of a wine bottle... basically more concerned with packaging, would buy your bottles.
they are interesting, and that is enough for me to buy them once.

approved.

maybe i am a bit old fashion. but i woudln't buy any bottles that's too modern. as a wine drinker, i'd prefer to go with the basic label, especially for italian wine.

for helping you out, could you send over a bottle of Screaming Eagle Cabernet Sauvignon 2002. That would be great
