could be a very successful bottle design for a price-point/ young consumer wine; the 20-something's just getting into it.. same as that Yellow Tail market.

Thanks for the comments thus far.
I'm not sure I totally understand the funeral / haloween comment.. Maybe I do? But the rest make total sense to me.
Thanks.

I think he means that it looks like a novelty brand, not, as is so important with wine, a brand image that exudes quality, tradition and craft. This may or may not be suitable dependent upon your target audience and price bracket.

hey nedword .. i commend you for accepting critique without fight and without taking it personally. i recently lost a friend because of this .. taking critique well is so important. the mark of an open mind.

I'm not totally getting most of the critiques... does it really look that down market? If the images were smaller, it seems like it woul d look kind of classy. Also the viney look, while trendy, does seem apt.

I really like the idea behind it.
I drink a lot of redwine but find the labels shit fucking boring, all with some brown etching of the wine yard or some white label with some black text on it.
There are some that try to stand out in the crowd by adding some outdated styling that looks like shit.Sure it's all about the red liquid inside the bottle, but if can be made sweet on the outside too, why not?
There will always be the wine snobs that like the traditional labels and cork in the top. Let em stay stuck there. Cool looking labels and and plastic in the top is the future if you ask me.

.the critique wasn't as fierce as usual either ;)

my critique was on the line that he really has a great idea there (the initials. C for Chianti etc), but somehow i feel it could be pushed a bit farther, skip the vineyard feel, and put each taste on the initials, costumizing each initial to the wine flavour. crisp C, bold X, round N, etc...
just an op. it's not even a critique since what's there is already above the common label.

Like I said, I wouldn't mind drinking it. I just don't know much about wine is all. And I have to agree that it doesn't look 'classy'. But maybe it's better that way. Having something different out there.

hahaa .. and to top it off i told him he had a chip on his shoulder that was his problem (as he hasn't been to design school). started calling him chip. then said he should come up with a new chip that tastes like shoulder.
and that was the end of our friendship.
:/
(i was drunk)

dont get me wrong, for a college project and dofr someone your age I think this is very good work, I just had to question the use of the style given that it's currently rather prolific, and to question the rationale which you have defended. I say continue with it but refine it, I personally would base the type on a more elagant typeface ie; trajan instead of times, make them considerably smaller and to refine the actual illustrative elements.

i feel better for having confessed my sin, father nedword. may i have some chianti?

I've never had the opportunity to tell someone off like that in my life. There is this one girl though...

Personally I like it. But the letter tells the type of wine. I don't know anything about the producer, appellation or designation. Which is important on any wine. So maybe tie the "brand" together with some commonality.
Simple script logo, but easy to recognize.
Good start though

grounds for ending friendship? possibly
- Jaline0
I should just let it go. It happened 6 years ago.
- joyride0
6 years ago? so when you we're 12, what did they do, break your crayon?
- _salisae_0
i know. i'm an ass. he just kept asking for critique but then fighting me at every step. imo if you ask you listen .. not argue.
so what happened, jaline? i'm down for some internet gossip.

I agree
