the xeon processors are core2. the mac pros were the first of the intel line to use core 2. imacs and mbp's had to wait for the mobile core2 chip, which was released after the xeon's.

and I should get the Radeon x1900 to go with the 30" mnonitor? I wonder why the sales guy was steering me towards 2x GeForce instead?

just saw this great deal from owc. 4x1gb for $400. luckily i had cancelled my order from transintl so i could get new boots and bindings for my snowboard. this is by far the best deal for mac pro ram.
