I'm thinking of moving out to CA next year. I want somewhere that's good both for design and surf... oh and hot... yeah and while I'm at it, nice women too ;) Any advice from the US please?

What - you think you're just goig to be able to move out here and get a job?
Good luck!

No not for a second to be honest. I'm not necessarily looking to get work in the design industry in CA. I'm more like;y to look for work in the surf industry ou there... I just wanna see what design is around.

Either way mate - are you applying for a visa? Do you have someone to sponsor you to work and live there?

You should just start paddling out to Los Angeles. You can use your Blackberry to conduct interviews.

You can't have both!
Live in San Diego and Surf or Live in Los Angeles and have an industry job.
The two things you want don't exist in the same place.

Haven't got as far as visa's. I realise it's really hard to get into the US at the moment, do you have to secure work/sponsorship first to have a chance?
Just looking at my options... All I know is I wanna get out of the UK!

I have more fun surfing New York half a year, then Los Angeles all year.

Put it this way - I met my wife, an american, in London. We decided to move to that states, and even with her being american it took the best part of a year, and 16 visits to the American Embassy, plus sheets and sheets of forms, background checks, police reports and medical exams to get my 'Permanent Resident Card' - giving me the right to live and work here.

I've heard Ventura has nice locals

Cheers Jevad :) Not exactly the good news I was looking for, but useful to know all the same!

You would have to emigrate, unless you found someone to sponsor you.
Or, just go there for a holiday, meet the girl of your dreams, and get married!
: )
Try Canada - it's easier!

(Nov 14 06, 13:13)Yeah I've been speaking to a guy recently who runs a New York surf site (http://www.newyorksurf.com), and it looks good out there! Plus I love NY, went there a couple of years ago. And from the look of the amount of jobs posted in the NTB, there are jobs there!

if you want to be in the surf biz, the only place to bein the states is SoCal or Hawaii.

Yeah I was thinking more SoCal, I have a lot of contacts out there, I was wondering where in particular there, as it's such a massive place!
Is it just LA for the design scene in CA then???
- ********0
no, you can also hit NoCal. SF , plenty of design jobs. Just the weather isnt as warm. I would say San Diego.

i live hear currently. Also lived in NoCal, Alaska, Arizona, and Georgia. Just moved back here last year. Ans yes, I would recomend San Diego. Stay away from LA. There are jobs here, no need to go into the suck.
