I'm thinking about using the Indesign. I've got a good handle on Quark......is the jump going to be a huge or a hop skip and a fart away...
pro/cons?

If you are familiar with Adboe products, you'll be fine.. ID is far more logical then Quark.. our company stopped using Quark about two years ago.. and I finally convinced the college where I teach to dump Quark..

There is no longer any logical reason to use Quark unless you are forced to do so by a client or employer.

i know Illy PShop I'm guessing with a quick once-over at a visual quick start book, I'll up and running in no time.
sounds like my next move.

make the switch...
in my opinion, quark screwed themselves with version 6... not to mention their stupid installation problems with the quark server nonsense...
you will miss the simplicity of quark but will enjoy the power of indesign. go for it.

it doesn't behave as much like Illustrator as some people will have you believe, but being studious will help you find your feet quickly.
it took me some time to get as fast as I was in Quark, but i'm an advocate of the app now. if you need some help, hit me up.

Quark is pure Shatness!
I still gotta use it though on the odd job, NCR sets, Invoices etc. What I was used to for 4 years.
Always good to have another string to your bow I say!
If starting out from scratch though I would deffinately say Indesign is your best bet, just seems to belong in the 21st century does Indesign.

using quark is like strapping a big ugly picture frame to your head and trying to fit through a narrow doorway into a room full of nice things...
