it's well put together, but i am getting more of the abondanza! olive garden italy feel, than the authentic, old-wolrd mediterranean feel that people pay oh-so much for. i think it's the colors you are using. they are a bit too rich. makes me think of centurions, spaghetti, and endless breadsticks, not villas.

lol ... true ... but I don't think the colors are that bad at all ... they approved everything on my first try so I can't complain!

one way to add a bit more depth would be to lose the grapes and replace with a couple of cropped grapevine leaves poking out from behind the nav and the photos.
if you do this, increase the scale on the leaves to make them look more life-size.

hello fellow Vancouverite.
I rarely do the critiques but I thought I'd say a couple of things.
1. the photo is a little blurry, maybe sharpen it a little.
2. the grape looks too photo-realistic to be slapped on there like that. it doesn't fit. I say play with the hues/saturation and maybe find a better way to incorporate it with the layout. some vines maybe.
3. the layout looks sort of "obesse". maybe separate the white content background from the nav? either literally or some texture/color changes.
4. might wanna align the current specials arrow with the submit arrow above.

you could find fonts that look like that and grunge it up yourself as a pattern. similar to a Fleur-de-lis
