I'm a print designer but I've been tasked with updating the company's flash website. I did some flash years ago and now I've opened up the flash file and I'm foxed.
I've only been given 1 fla file to work from. We had a tutorial by the web designer about a year ago and my notes are not very useful.
Can anyone tell me how to access different parts of the site from the one flash file. There is only 1 scene. Is there a subdivision of parts of a site within a 'scene' the timeline is only 13 frames long but none of them contain the menu section.
When I publish the file to a swf everything is present, are the sections of the site. So they must be contained within the file. But where else can I look?
Sorry if this makes no sense.
This is the site I'm working on:

the part I'm working on is the main site (that has a menu across the top and on the left with scrolling images in the middle) after the crappy intro section.

look for different scenes, and for movie clips with linkage names in the library. looking at the site, anything with a preloader usually is getting loaded in, ie. seperate flash file. but looking at the library should help you find some stuff, just click around

use your movie explorer. that should point you in the right direction (if the original designer labeled things nice and tidy)

click on a layer and see if there anything on the stage highlighted, then double click. Or check the library for anything familiar.

Thanks so much guys, I found the sections I was looking for in the library, he had labelled them all really neatly and so it all made sense then. He's done it all as lots of movie clips. I used to always work in scenes but now I know where stuff is it should be ok.
I would have been lost though with the help of NTers. everyone else in my studio has even less of a clue about flash than I do.
Watch out though I may be back with more inane questions soon, watch this space!

nothing like messing with other peoples flash files. can be either very educational or very frustrating.
