imma say 3, feels the most resolved and rich

maybe lose the flag and add some faces up there to personalize/humanize the site.

the first and third ones are best. I think the third is the better of the two, less competion in the design. The bevels, drop shadows, etc in the first don't add anything and don't seem to be consistent.
I'd just look at the space between to top of the content well [the image and the header 'Design'] and bottom of the navigation. The space there doesn't seem to make sense. It's too large or not large enough...

Thanks guys. Yeah I need to humanize it. I just need to find the right images.
You really think I should get rid of the flag though? I’m not usually the type of person to use imagery like that, but I think it’s a strong part of the design. Maybe I could turn down the opacity even more on it, and then put veterans’ pictures over on the top right. That might make a bit busy– I’ll try it though.
You’re right neue, bit too much space there. tyvm
coker, your site doesn't work.

i like 1 and 3 best as well.
i happen to like the slight darker flag below photo in 1. i can dig it - nice and clean site.

i find it funny that people who criticize my site have pretty bad looking portfolios. maybe instead of criticizing, you should learn from my designs and improve on yours

really like the nav on concept 1. But 3 is the better overall...
good job.

lol!
i havent even seen your site.
what i meant by "it doesn't work" was that it didn't load up. there was just a border and i think some sort of pattern.. but nothing happened.

cokertodd...
were you being serious?
- kyl30
considering what the government did to these people, I wouldn't use the flag. but thats just me.
not to politicize your thread, sorry

The last one -- works best for this type of content/promotion...

i like the first one. what type is in the menu?

good point kyl, i'll look into that.
crouwel, that'd be Avenir Black - one of my favorites.
thanks all!

3 is real nice...maybe add photos like kyl said, but also decrease the nav size by a few points (although, if the audience is generally 30-40 + years old then maybe keep it big and simple)...Nice work, gets the job done!

is that pic of the actual memorial, or just fpo? i ask because all of the layouts are pretty dark, yet the memorial itself looks like white stone.
off all the layouts, number 2 jumps out at me because of the solemnity, and i agree wih you about the flag treatment going on, very nice.
but the green header kills it. i'd love to see a monotone sight in either a black or whites/grays with a stronger yet restrained type treatment in the header. a lighter sight might break up the monotony, and compliment the design of the memorial, if that is in fact a pic as well, though i don't know how many you plan on presenting.

also, the bar that houses nav is a little big...maybe that needs to go down by like 5-101 pixels so the nav text fits a little more snugly in there...I said snugly
