got GeekSquad?

thought about it but also thought they were too commercial. We may have to go that route.
looking for someone people can really vouch for. I got mixed reviews from Geek Squad.

Dp you know what the problem is?

machine shuts down with a london police siren going off. I searched google and found that the computer was overheating because of a failed heat sink. Installed a new heat sink but that didn't work either. could it be the motherboard?
thanks.

Did you make sure to put the heatsink on properly? not too much/too little termal paste, HSF is seated properly on CPU, fan on heatsink is pointed in the right direction?
Is that siren sound you hear supposed to be a code as to what is going wrong with your computer? Check you motherboard manual if you have one.
Other components can overheat also, have you checked your video card?

heat sink is on properly, as is the amount of paste.
the siren is a signal for overheating (as i read).
Ran a BIOS and everything looked copasetic. How does one check the video card?
Thanks Oeuf

"CPU Alarm Temperature:
Once the system has detected that the CPU's temperature exceeded the limit, warning beeps will sound."
