Someone enlighten me...I may need a site built. I'm strictly print, so I know nothing about the web. If I were to create page templates in Illy, how hard/much work is it to get a web pro to come in and make it function? How much does something like this cost?
There might not be a definitive answer, but a little enlightenment will sufice.
Gracias.

if you're looking to hire out web design you can pay a person to create you css/html templates that you enter your text and photos into on your own. with a little dreamweaver knowledge you can do it in a weekend.
if you're going to ask someone here maybe do a barter system of some kind with your print knowledge.

Good tip, k0na. Maybe I'll look into that.
Actually, I just checked out your site...not what I was thinking about for the mentioned site, but I've been trying to figure out how to do something like that for my personal site...like a one page site. Is there a template for that or would I have to get someone to make that for me too?

It is very common to pass off a comp like this for a web developer to build out. I'm sure if you ask around someone here will do it. Can't speak too much on exact rates but I do know that you generally get what you pay for.

What can I get for a highlighter and a cup of decaf?
- nocomply0
If you give me some regular instead of decaf I'll write the meta tags.

(Oct 27 06, 10:25)i don't make it, but here in minneapolis-area, that seems to be a general asking range (and at a price that doesn't compromise designers' integrity )

Be EXTRA careful who you choose to spend your money on when it comes to Web Designers. While there are some worth 125/hr, those people are few and very far between.
Most designers/developers are worth 50-75/hr tops. Most importantly, check the backgrounds on those you consider making sure they can prove they did the work they say they did and have references supporting their character and work.
Do this research work up front, it will hopefully save you headaches down the road.
... and when someone says they have 7 years experience, make sure they're not counting summers during college ;)
