first off, what's the idea behind the mark*?
at the moment it looks like 'genie properties' is just an addon, a last minute fix to explain the mark.
*the connected 'gp'

i like it. it is a good beginning. when scaled down though, the name is lost a bit and the ratios are skewed between the logomark and the logotype.
i would play w/ that relationship a bit more and see what variations you discover. also, the letterforms are still not weighted 'equally' i feel. the 'p' feels like it has a stroke around it, and where the 'g' and 'p' join feels a little tried.
overall though, i like the aesthetic you are working here.

Thanks for the advice.
The thought behind it was to create a subtle reference to the genie smoke from a genie bottle, so the g in the symbol is a reference to this. The client also wanted something traditional in terms of lettering.
"when scaled down though, the name is lost a bit and the ratios are skewed between the logomark and the logotype."
Can you give me more info here, I think I know what you mean, do you mean the size relationship between the logomark and type?
Thanks again for the constructive crits.

basically, yes. i was saying that when you scale this mark (as you provided it) to say 100px wide, the name (logotype) becomes unlegible and *much* smaller relative to the 'gp'. obviously this will always be true as the 'gp' is larger, but the dimensions relative to one-another could be more balanced i thought.
more clear?

cheers madirish, I'll experiment with sizes, as you quite rightly said, the mark holds its legibility much more than the lettering.
Thanks for the advice.

I agree scale down the mark some to balance more with the type - at that size the mark is so bold which makes the thing top heavy/unbalanced.

I like it. Seems to go with 'genie'.

Nice work.
The P outweighs the G a lil. I don't think they HAVE to be aligned on the bottom (descendors).
That might give you a good space to put the type (genie whatever).

(Oct 19 06, 06:49)That's a ligature used as logo, not quite the same as connecting g and p. Although the idea might seem the same, it's not. It really bothers me that people are jumping to hastely to the wrong conclusions (here and elsewhere). Kinda 'that's a rip!'. Think twice before broadcasting...

it really doesn't add anything to the brand, as it stands, it's kind of gimicky. is it residential properties? maybe if the negative space between the letters formed a keyhole? something else a little less arbitrary? i think the smoke form is a stretch. are the selling genies or property?
- e_b_c0
along the lines of housing refrences, you could redraw the ligature connection to be more remenicant of a pitched roof. cheesy? maybe. communicative? yes.

this treatment looks very familiar.

i keep focusing on the negative space between the g and f and i lose the g and f.
also. the bottom of the f i'd like to see either even with the bottom of the g, or a bit more below it.
nice though.
