I've read the reviews but want to hear from people that have used these.
Anyone have any experience with either one? Thoughts?

personally I would get the d80, but this is based only on what I've read

If you are looking in the D80 price range, check out the new Canon Rebel XTI if you haven't already, 10 mp also. Just picked it up and love it.
But then I guess you may want a camera body that is more durable than rebel caliber. My photography buddy swears by the 30d.

i have the D80 with the famous 18-200mm VR. what can i say? i love it. D80's bright view finder, handling, intuitive command controls...
sure canon does high ISO better but for what i do, I am totally fine with nikon. D80's high ISO performance is better than D200, i hear. i'd post some shots with my D80 later if you like.

canon has better customer relations and better software.

Wouldn't the real comparison be Nikon D80 vs. Canon 30D. The Rebel class is a little cheaper.
I love my Canon 10D

I would go the 5 frames per second shooting on the 30d over the 3 frames per second shooting on the d80.

The CANON's all have this rad wheel on the back for scrubbing through images...pretty cool for animation and motion work.

i'm with canon, the nikons always feel cheap to me
i got a 350D and a 5D, love the 5D more though
