"Hiro, whatever you do, don't open the safe."
"Ando, I must open the safe immediately! Despite my father's express wishes, against all my cultural instincts as a Japanese to obey without question my ancestors dying pleas, and despite his dire and boneheadedly explicit warning that it will lead inexorably and directly to the end of the very world I have now saved twice already. I must open, nay! Ando, I am compelled to open this safe! Right now! And LO! My father has conveniently left behind this handy electronic safe opener gizmo in this unguarded box on my desk, and I seem to know the combination to this safe without even trying!....and what's this?! Upon opening this safe and holding up this dire formula that leads to the very destruction of the world, why immediately a thief steals it! A thief with the power of super speed! But I can stop time and I COULD take the formula out of her hand and say, I don't know, burn it, or eat it or, fuck, just put it back into the safe when she's frozen..and I could, if I was a dick you know, maybe stab her in the heart with this letter opener, but..you know what...I won't do that, although I cuold. In fact any real human being with my powers in this situation WOULD do exactly that. No, I won't. I will let her get away with it and once again put the fate of the entire world into chance's hands just so I can create another silly plot device to keep this trainwreck rolling. And so that Mohinder can get his sex on with the sexy latina death chick."
"Hiro, That is a brilliant plan!"
"Thank you Ando...now quick..to the Gay Cave!"
- The amazing thing is, you can do this for every character in the show.TheBlueOne
- That said, I do find the trainwreck addictive, simply to have sport at the weekly glaring plot holesTheBlueOne
- um, this is written from a comic book perspective, this is all fantastic and amazing.e-pill
- its not dallas or ER...
just enjoy people can fly and shoot fire... so fun!!!e-pill - you guys are just jaded.e-pill
- And since when are comic book readers NOT uber critical nerd fanboys, like myself?TheBlueOne
- i agree with e-pillkona
- yeh i guess but if its a book that you truly love it shouldnt matter.
its the characters that make it.e-pill - "it's not Dallas or ER"?Nairn

LOL. Yeah, a flimsy plot driver.
The only things I can comment on is that Hiro was supposed to have access to the safe, but not open it. That is why the gizmo was there and his thumb print opened the safe.
The girl whole stole it was never frozen when he stopped time. It revealed that Hiro doesn't stop time, just slows it so much it is perceived as stopped, so her speed was negated. Hiro said she must move at the speed of sound, but I think it would have to be faster than that. Plus, wheres the sonic boom then?- But even she was stopped Hiro is a fucking sword swinging samurai and she's like what? A punk chick? CUT HER IN HALF!!TheBlueOne
- ..HALF!!!TheBlueOne
- ...And stop trying to justify the unjustifiable! :)TheBlueOne
- Nah. Not justifying... just pointing out :)ETM
- He had JUST SHOWN that he could rewind time; so instead of stopping it, rewind and re-hide the stupid paper.killthefish
- SONIC BOOM!!!

all I know is that the first 2 episodes were disappointing, don't know if I'll keep watching.

i thought it was pretty good. some little things bugged me but i'm not like comic book guy from the simpsons who complained about a scene where someone was playing the xylophone and was shown playing a c-sharp when in fact the note being heard was an a-flat. i tend not to get too critical of shows like this.
i loved how they poked a bit of fun at the show when claire asked sylar if he was going to eat her brain (as we all had been guessing he eats the brain to gain the powers) and he goes "that's disgusting claire". hahaha. but i didn't like them going so deeply into the political realm of the show. how nathan was being talked of by the senator was all too familiar of the conversation that must have went on with mccain needing palin.
mohinder, i didn't think i could hate him more. peter... haha... the hancock of heroes (minus the booze). so helpless and screws everything up.
it was cool though all the new characters. e-pill can probably confirm... i saw their powers as...
captain america - mohinder
magneto - the dude who controls magnetism
johnny storm - another flame thrower from prison
black canary - (in dude form) the guy who has an ultrasonic screamkinda cool.
- << WARNING... SPOILERS...kona
- Peter WOULD be far cooler if he went on a season long bender, now that you mention it...TheBlueOne
- um not capt america and more like The Fly or knock off spider-man.. but yes happy either waye-pill

didn't saw them yet, but mohinder has powers too?
- oh crap... sorry digdre.kona
- Don't come in the fucking thread AFTER episodes have aired if you don't want to know, haha.********
- MISTERKIJI0
mohinder is pulling a serious jeff goldblum on us.
- ETM0
@ Kona...
Mohinder - not sure about Capt. America -- Mohinder was climbing up walls too like Spiderman or something.
I though the fire guy was more like Pyro and the sonic guy something like Banshee. Agree on the Magneto reference. NBC is building their own X-Men and Brotherhood of Mutants without the license fee. :P
- ETM0
So Mohinder is a scientist... and now has powers, manifesting in super strength and now appears to be mutating... is he to be the NBC version of Bruce Banner / The Hulk?
- kona0
@ETM... yeah I guess you're right. I was only thinking Cap because he said his physical attributes and senses were enhanced exponentially, like caps. But it's more like a mix of peak human physical potential with Spidey mixed in. Crazy.

SPOILER: Hiro's father isn't really dead, but rather shacked up in a gay relationship with Linderman, and their living inside Nathan Petrilli's brain, in his adrenal gland, where Sylar discovers them in episode 5!!! You heard it hear first.

I have it "media centered it" (can I say that?)
I will watch it tonight.

I feel like there are a limited number of super powers that any piece of literature or medium can use while still keeping the show / characters / things interesting. So, while it's obvious that most of the writers get their inspiration from comic books, it's difficult to come up with new super powers that viewers won't immediately link back to a previous comic book character, AND that could work with a storyline present within "Heroes". That's why I always cut them some slack when it comes to re-using powers.
The dialogue has always needed work on this show. Other than that, I thought the first two episodes were well-done, kept me interested, and moved more quickly than episodes from previous seasons.
I loved the bits where they took into account what the viewers were talking about on message boards and blogs. For example, as mentioned above by kona, the part when Sylar says that it's disgusting to eat brains. It added humour to the show.
Every character Ali Larter (Nikki / Jessica / Tracy) plays still puzzles me.
Hey, Jessalyn Gilsig (who has guest-starred on many random shows) is back as Claire's real mom! I like how they just make her use her fire-generating powers on-screen for like 1 second every time she's on the show. It's a bit cheesy :P
I still love Kristen Bell (Elle) and completely forgot that she was on this show. She and the actor who plays Jesse (the guy that present-day Peter is trapped in) were good friends on "Veronica Mars", so it's a bit weird to see them acting alongside each other again.

i think everyone has a twin that is a villian.
- mistermik0
its well cock.
- Jaline0
Very entertaining, but plagued by bad writing and nonsensical storylines once again.

THIS WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR THOSE NOT CAUGHT UP AS OF NOW:
i'm liking it so far, i guess. Every season i seem to hate Mohinder more (i guess that's what they're going for) and hate Sylar less (also, what they're going for). The whole thing with Sylar's kid dying killed me. i hate when that happens in movies or tv (e.g. Syriana and Crash, for a few seconds at least). i don't think that stuff bothered me as much before i became a dad, but now it's nearly intolerable. Though Sylar's reaction was just about right for any normal dad.
At any rate, i'll keep watching- That was an awesome scene, but Peter wanting Sylar's abilities was SO STUPID.Jaline
- Just one of the issues with the episode.Jaline
- Yeah, Peter is bugging me this season too. He's like the Mr. Bean of Heroes, blundering around fucking up stufflocustsloth
- LHC0
I think this show is back on form after this episode. I thought it was the best in the last two seasons. was baked though.
- jimzyk0
season 3 rocks so far.
liking it all. yum yum yum.
- kalkal0
I'm not sure if this has been asked yet but, the whole levels thing is bugging me. Is level 5 supposedly more powerful than level 2? I mean, all those "villians" powers sucked ass and they're in level 5 where as Hiro is in level 2...
Is 1 the most powerful? Or has he got a long way and a lot of potential in the other direction, at 5?
- i think the levels go down in the ground, progressively and their level is determined by their threat, not their powerslocustsloth
- Ohhh... litterally, level of the building.kalkal
- kalkal0
Oh and Peter moving to cogs in a watch to get Sylars power sucked.
- *twokalkal
- yeah, that was dumb. i guess Danny Spitz is a superhero now too (that's for Anthrax fans only)locustsloth
- yes, exactly.Jaline
- I mean... it could have worked with a little extra production value. It was two fucking cogs though!kalkal
