It's official: Google has now acquired Youtube for around $1.6 billion, as initially reported.

The last video every to be posted before Google changes it all, are all the YouTube people swimming in money like Scrooge McDuck.

google won't change it. it's all about the conent deals and the $ that is around the corner for YouTube.

great.
So I wonder now how many videos will start to 'miraculously disapear' as big brother takes a strong grip on youtube...
are we to expect more restrictions and the decline from what was a free speech service to a online version of govt controlled TV ?
we cant just have regular citizen joe 'becoming the media' now can we!

That's craziness. I never thought the rumour was true. I guess that's one reason I don't have the scratch to buy YouTube. :\

Then again, the deals YouTube signed with CBS, etc. should have been a pretty big tip.

And that's that.

Correction: Youtube was purchased by Google for $1.65 billion.
I really hope the rules and regulations for uploading and viewing videos doesn't get too tight though. But overall I don't have any problems with Google.
Damn, imagine how much money people could get by starting up Web2.0-related stuff like this randomly one day in their homes ;)

youtube has only 67 employees...
... INCREDIBLE success story!! :)
- ********0
That's like 24.6 million a piece if they split it up evenly, hahaha.

you guys in the US and Canada have a funny way with numbers.
$1.65 billion is not a mathematical billion.1.650.000.000 is just a thousand six hundred and fifty millions.
1.65 billion (in europe at least) would be 1650.000.000.000.000. a thousand and sixty five billions.

Congrats to the people who started and own Youtube!
Of course 90% of the people here complain about someone else getting rich off of what they built.
- ********0
anyway, giants are easier to kill. you can't go richer beyond rich. I wouldn't do it. that's what fucked the Romans long time ago.
