Just to head off on a tangent for a second... I just realised about 10 minutes ago that I saw Gerard Butler playing Renton in a stage adaptation of Trainspotting in Edinburgh in 1996.
Plus he took a real piss live on stage if I remember correctly (with his back to the audience though).
