ach I don't mean in general , that's a given...
I'd aim a little lower than trying to get 500 folks into theis gig though, at least start small. Rustling up that hundred will be harder than you think, and getting random trade I'm sure will be a total cunt in London near Chrimbo. 200 odds paying blah blah on the door and drinks to the venue will raise you a nice little packet for the charities, but remember if you book a place for 500/600 and 250 turn up, the night will be deemed a bit of a disaster, whereas 200 packed out into a smaller club and demand for tickets that aren't there is a full on success.
maybe then you could do another one in the spring and raise twice as much money over the period.

but then again, there are an awfull lot of potential punter in Londres, so maybe I'm being too negative...

yeah, but you do know what you're talking about, kelps, which is helpful. and you're probably right.

The Windmill is fucking great - which is why I suggested it. It's a dive - but a cool one.

See? Just like the wild west...

ooh, it's pretty!!!

and I'm with Kelpie. If we fill a pub - that's more than good enough. I don't think we'd get anything like enough people to use somewhere like the Garage.

and I'm with Kelpie.

well I am down like a clown for it.. but guess we should get Vespa to veto it... I am kinda two minds though, as In yes I agree with Kelpi it would be better to pack out a smaller venue. But also in my eternal optimisim of the spotless mind i am left wondering if we shouldn't maybe get a venue where we could pack in few more punters....

Let's see what Lady Vespa has to say on the matter.

let vespa decide when she's back from yet another six-martini bbc lunch...

oi.
kelpie.
wake up, mate, you missed your cue...

hmm well i reckon packing a smaller venue is def better as it will be tuff to get people out just before xmas, have to try to get people to have their xmas parties there if we can.
we've played at the windmill before and my only criticism is that it's hard to get to. if we can get anywhere more central that would be marvelous but if not then it's a good backup... good work so far!

another idea...one that could even be in conjunction with your concert is to get design firms in your area to create holiday cards to sell for charity.
When I worked at Bottlecap, we created something called Boston Designs Community and rallied the design community to contribute one holiday card design each and then sold them at various retail venues.
This would be a good way to get xtra press for your gig too.

also, free milk will drag em in. big glorious pints of it.
- vespa0
woops i lie we've never played at the windmill. it was further away at the telegraph. hopefully the windmill is better!

maybe Build™ can show up, that'll cover the celeb thang.... and donate a print, monkeyshine has a good idea there, if you can get some prints from Blanka, to auction or sell, people would love that, or at least I would...
- kelpie0
and if you get snuggles, you get the crowd which does whatever he does.
phone Blanka now.
