Anyone have one of these? I'm thinking of buying a used one off of craigslist. It's model #HD120U2E and it's 120GB formatted for Mac. Apparently it's about 3 years old, but still works and is selling for pretty cheap.

I had one new, the drive failed after one year minus a day...
I mailed it out the same day for repair under warrenty and four and a half months later it returned from California fixed.
The moral is, the drive takes longer vactions than I do.

chances of it breaking are up around 1000000% + you have no warrent.. Just buy a new one.. 250Gb ext. go for under $150 now

I bought one a couple of years ago (80 GB). It basically still works but every once in a while I get an awful noise coming from inside it. It makes me very nervous and am expecting it to crap out at any time.

Points taken.
Anyone have any good experiences? Or are there none? I've never bought one.

Why not just buy an enclosure and put your own HD in it:

Buying a shell and an HD isn't a bad idea but I've never done it before. Someone last week started telling me how to do it but I can't figure out who.
Any tips on how to buy the right HD with the right shell?
