4 years experience
- Baskerville0
on average if you came straight out of uni, you should be earning roughly your age (or a little more). 4 years you should be on about 25-28K ish
- Stugoo0
what about 2 years experience design/build no programming. css+html ? ( college graduate)
- paraselene0
stugoo: that'd be 20-24 i'd think.
and baskerville's right, roomfive, i reckon you'd get 24-28.
though lots of people will work for much less if the agency has any cachet.

(Sep 27 06, 02:05)yeah listen to hench you will be so much more out of pocket if you go to London. I don't work there but I have clients that do and everytime I travel in I am amazed how much I spend.

morning guys, if any of you want to 'pm' me, regarding salaries. i am a team leader in charge of 45 'souls' in my line. at my level(senior management) i can expect to take home £56k, but on top of that i take in small fees for risk management seminars which i am doing increasingly more of. i'm currently working in a 3/4 postion at my company to accomodate for that! peace

As someone who is from the North West and has worked there, but now lives in London, I can honestly say I am better off in London.
I went for a CD job in Manchester in January and it was 38K, where as in London you get 30% more.
I don't care what anyone says London isn't 30% more expensive than Manchester.
If you want to live anywhere decent oop north you still pay a fair amount for a house. In the village I grew up in in the Ribble valley a house starts at 200K, you can get a pad for something similar in London, but earn more.
I'll agree that low pay in London is worse than low pay in Preston, but if you think you're any good, London is where the cash is.
My 2p's worth

Yeah I agree with most comments. It's a tough one... Whenever I go to London I spend SO MUCH cash, on travel etc... But you get payed more... And the work 'can' be better... But I agree with kezza, it can be very expensive up North also, I live in Leeds, and drinks are just as expensive up here, as are clothes, and rent (if you don't mind living in a shithole)... So I guess maybe London... although the pollution, travel hassles...?!

...and the londoners... ?!

(Sep 27 06, 02:56)Doesn't matter what you fucking earn when you blow it all on blow-n-beer because you're pissed off with the shit hole.

I don't know any Londoners, and I've lived here for 11 years. :)
Seriously though, London is a wonderful place to live. People like to knock it but I can't think of anywhere else that compares to it in the UK. Sure there are bad bits, but at the end of the day it's up to the individual to find a little corner that agrees with them.
If I could get paid to the same money to work in Leeds and commute from somewhere as nice as say Ilkley, I'm not sure I would, well not yet anyway.
Manshester is interesting with the big guns like McCanns, and Tequila, but the pay is shit, and the nice bits of manchester compare to London for buying a gaff.

soda is the only londoner i know. and he's ace!
