I'm feelin '2', good balance between type and dog icon.

by the sounds of the clients coments, maybe you need to think of the target audience, the type of people use the site. Less corporate, more friendly.
your logos are nice, but they look quite corporate, rather than a site where people fiiind their lost dogs.
maybe some hand drawn type thats scanned in or something.

try stacking it too.

Wow, that is the exact opposite of what people have told me. Most people say my logos are more playful and A LOT LESS corporate.

In this set, the dog is so much more prominent that I can no longer tell that the nose is the dot.
What about have everything for the dog but the nose in a complimentary color? Or screen the head back (but not the nose)? I don't know.

I love number 7 but it would be cool if the negative behind the white type were just the first word "fido". Nice job.

his friends are dicks.

yours are 100x better

yours are way better...
...but if his 'friends' are his objectivity... then I'd drop it now as there is no way you'll convince him. :)

Yours are much better but I absolutely loved that, in the orginal, the dog's nose became the dot.

Mayo.. the dot is cool for the nose.. but the funny thing was I didn't see it until he told me that. I guess I subconciously saw it, but didn't "see" it every other time I looked at the logo. I guess I saw the dog first and then the text instead of vice versa.

He did admit these are better designed, he just doesn't want a "web 2.0 look" or look commercial.
I feel a better designed logo gives a polished look to a company.
I will admit that I am partial to my designs and what I create, but I am objective in designing something that I feel others will like as well.

it's hard to appreciate or even locate the 'clever' point in a logo/design when it's overshadowed by shit typography, irrelevant. :)

i think the old logo was good, just needs a new font and better branding.
the dog icon and how it plays with the .com is perfect... i wouldn't change that.
- mayo0
yeah, i admit it's hard to tell that the nose was used for that, but, but, it's a puppy nose! how cute is that?!?!?!?
Yours are still better.

Ok, here is the tough question. A few of you agree that mine look better, but is that is what's best for his company? His friends that like his old logo better are not designers so it makes me question "good design" Is it good because it looks good to designers, or is it good if everyone likes it as is? If so his logo is better desined to an untrained eye.
