Does anyone know how to import an .eps or .ai outline to C4D?
There is no visible "import" command. According to the manual "open" should take care of it, but nothing happens.
Any help will be appreciated.

Its a bit convoluted, but it works like a charm. For best results, save each vector as a separate .AI file, and save as 8.0 Illy AI file. Then, in the content browser, which you can find in the window menu set at the top, search for your files. It will default to a 'simplified browser' setting... but make sure to change the view setting to the standard setting, which you can do by either control clicking in the browser window, or right-clicking for submenu. You should be good to go from there. good luck.

That did it! THe secret was to save it as an Illustrator 8.0 file, which is kinda dumb on Maxon's part. But it works. Thanks a bunch djurizen! (BTW I didn't need to use the browser import feature. Opening it from the main File menu works.
Blackspade: C4D is a great program. For me the hardest part is to figure out the best way of building something (sometimes there is more than one way). So far I am just modeling small things. Didn't get into animation yet.

C4D is easy to learn Blackspade, you can start by building splines (illustrator paths) in Illustrator and then when your sick of extruding, sweeping, lathe-ing etc to create outlines then you can move on to polygon modelling. Most tutorials are pretty easy.
at the very least you be able to bling out logos etc
