It sucks when a few people succeed in making a whole bunch of people look ignorant, when you know they're probably not.

I agree except I would like to see some outrage on the part of moderate muslims over the killing of the nun and over the violence lead by these extremists. The outrage only comes out when their faith is questioned or challanged.

"Your religion is violent."
"What! Infidel! How dare you! Death to you and your entire way of life!"

speaking out against this stuff is pretty much signing your own death warrant in these parts of the world, I would imagine.

" Iran's supreme leader also said: "We do not expect anything from [US President George W] Bush, because he works for global, plundering companies and powers."
Damn... talk about hitting the nail on the head!

"Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached."

said the pope.
now those muslims are only confirming this, right?

Why is it that you feel the urge to demonize oppossing political views? I, speaking from that vantage, accept your politics as the other side of the democratic process of 'push and pull".
Geopolitically, I think your views are inherently infantile and have been proved by history to be consistantly wrong, again and again. But I don't feel you to be insane or unhealthy, just wrong.
Why don't you afford me and others of my political persuasion the same respect?

(Sep 19 06, 10:24)People are more important to me than geo-political economics. Sorry if you don't feel the same way.

Between terrorists and the Catholic Church, I think the latter is responsible for the most damage in this world.

(Sep 18 06, 14:13)One of which allows you to make a statement like that and the other would have you killed for saying something like that. Hmm.

(Sep 18 06, 14:13)True, but the Catholic Church has been in power for a longer time in a variety of places. It depends on who controls the 'toys'.

I was just going to make a joke about the pope having gonorrhea, but now DP will think it is about him.

terrorists get no love.

Pope Bunnydick must be one of the unluckiest people alive. First he upsets Jews by inadvertently joining the Hitler Youth, and now he makes a completely innocent comment which is taken to mean that the Mud Slide Slimmers, unlike the Catholic church, who never for example had an Inquisition, once spread their religion by violence.
jevad
(Sep 19 06, 12:56)Surely that's not the point - the point is it's 2006 and they're still spreading their religion by violence whereas Catholicism has calmed down. You can't justify militant islam and condemn the current pope just because Chistians did it a few hundred years back.

Some Muhammed burning would prbably go down well now. I'll get mine down fomr the loft.

“If a man is offered a fact which goes against his instincts, he will scrutinize it closely, and unless the evidence is overwhelming, he will refuse to believe it. If, on the other hand, he is offered something which affords a reason for acting in accordance to his instincts, he will accept it even on the slightest evidence.”

They burn effigies of the pope every year in Lewes, in East Sussex, UK on bonfire night. Crazy pagan fire festival –

the funny thing is you can't even draw a cartoon of muhammed but you can burn any damn effigy you like.

CarlClay, please don't quote Bertrand Russel out of writings for politics.
It was not his point as you know (i hope). I think you'll agree on this.
