religion is a man-made construct that people use to give their insignificant lives meaning.
Really it is nothing more than another form of government, if you really think about it. all these rules for what?
Seriously, half the planet wont eat pork or have a dog as a pet because in ancient times people would get sick from these animals. It is completely outdated and ridiculous.
Catholics dont eat meat on fridays because it was a means of conservation and so on.
Dont get me wrong, people can do whatever they want to with their lives and believe whatever makes them get through the day. but the instant that their superstitions impede on other people's rights and way of life, it is no longer "love thy neighbor" and is therefore wrong in my book.
Again, if you are religious, go for it. But dont try telling folks what they need to be doing, because that just makes you an asshole.
