I'll tell you, it was pretty eerie walking around the real Ghost Towns. A lot of them you couldn't get up to because of No Trespassing signs, but the ones that we could get to still had a great feeling to them. It was such an operation - even with today's technologies it would be a pain to set up mining operations where these places were...

Yeah we went in to a couple of the mines, sleeping quarters, a mill...it was creepy...a lot of the old equipment was still there...cables..lamps...old shovels...

Very cool. I've always wanted to explore a ghost town all alone at dusk - I'm sure it would be pretty creepy..

Same here, but then it would be a bit hypocritical. I'm always angry with those idiots in horror films who enter such places after they hear a noise coming from somewhere (usually from inside an abandoned house or isolated area).

In a few of the spots I was a little more worried about the Deliverance-like folk we kept passing on ATV's dressed in camo with rifles slung over their shoulders

Yes ghost towns are rad. when i went to http://www.bodie.net/ over the summer they had plenty of abandoned buildings you could walk into.
It was almost surreal. A lot of the houses still had the original tin cans and other trash on the floor.
I wanted so badly to take home a little souvineer, but the legend of the curse of Bodie says that anyone who removes anything from the ghost town will be haunted and cursed forever or something. I felt it best to not mess with the karma gods.

It was rad. And huuuuge! We only spent about 2 hours there, but I probably could have done 2 days....love that stuff.

Its nice, but doesn't have that abandoned feel somehow, Understand that the sites about the images but seems to need something more.
Maybe the dark background overshadows the pics?
