What's the best place to live in NYC that's not so much $? Brooklyn? What are good places to look other than CraigsList?
Thanks friends! I love you all.

I just looked at a place in the Lower East Side yesterday, it was cheap, but far from any subways though.

taragee got her name back when one day jason kristofer made a thread and i got excited and asked for my original name back and he gaVE it back, and then i told jenns to get his name back and he did, and then i told gee to plead with the qoob and beg jason with geelicious flavourful excitment and she then got her groove back on nt.

Phildelphia is not a very nice place to live. BUT it is cheap.

Lower East Side is nice....transportation isn't too bad in my opinion from there...but depends on where you need to go to work.
Upper East Side is wonderful too, however there - yes - you will find transportation a bit annoying.
Upper West Side and getting into Harlem, not too bad. That's nice.
Financial District has some killer deals, but it's like a ghost town at night.
Way up West above Harlem, etc. is supposed to be nice...but you might as well commute from NJ or something at that rate.

most places can be pretty nice to live if you are absolutely minted.
- Rand0
because of an unusual set of circumstances, my investment was minimal

I would do anything for love, but I won't do that.

I agree - if you have money Philly can be good. I've lived outside Philly all my life. I hear every night on the news who got shot. There have been more people shot than there are days in the year. The mayor has given speeches, etc. There's been a lot of hit and runs too. My feeling is it's all getting worse and worse...Though Philly burbs are probably better than NYC burbs.

I live within the city limits, though not downtown. If you go downtown any night of the week and walk around late at night the streets are full of people like you and me going to restaurants and nobody seems too worried about getting shot
