Hey there
So tell me wheres going off in terms of work - US? UK? Asia? Anyone got any insights into whats happening? I've ehard the US is in need of web professionals - is this the case elsewhere?

Yes, the US is in need of Good Flash Programmers, Designers Art Directors, etc. Just take a look at allthe listings here inthe job section of Newstoday.
I am sure oversees needs people too, but as far as the US, Every company is still hiring. If you are decent you can get a good job in San Francisco, or New York pretty easy. Lots of jobs in LA and lots elsewhere in the US.
There are jobs to be had, but companies still want good talent, just not any talent.

Thanks same.
I'm a suit, so i suppose the same applies. But i've read recently of companies like razorfish, t3, etc are all desperate for good people.
Fingers crossed!

Damn you suit!
Yes, most all the agencies need every position. Most likely a few will have a position for you. Check AKQA, Ogilvy, Y&R, Organic, Blastradius. Vancouver Canada where Blast is, is a great town also.
But yes, every position is available, things are still hot right now.

yeah i've heard vancouver is cool, a lot like my home town Melbourne! Also interested in CA, or even Europe, or maybe Singapore!! I'm easy .

does anyone pay for relocation??

Yeah, there's quite a few good agencies here in vancity looking for talented people.
and yes, Vancouver is a lot like Melbourne in my opinion. I went to Melbourne 2 years ago and felt like I was still in van, except I was sweating a lot.

If they really need you yes. But alot of companies will bypass people if they can get somebody in country. A lot of companies dont like dealing with work visas and such... BUT it is all about how much they need you. So if you are really good at what you do, and they need somebody really bad, they will help with location and visa.
I also know that they sometimes are hesitant of helping you out with location $, because they are afraid you might flake on them and leave the company after they just dropped a few grand on you.
Also remember, that atleast here in the USA, there is a law against working people with foreign visa's way way too much. Sometimes bosses will take advantage of that visa and work people like 80 hour weeks. If this ever happens there is a law protecting you against this and you can sue.

excellent - thanks guys. all good material

It is true that many agencies don't like to deal with visas and stuff for various reasons, but it is still worth a try.
The agency I am working with right now didn't care about dealing with the visa situation. Here's a thought. Since you can get a work holiday visa to work in canada, why don't you try that? Once you're here you can start knocking on doors and see if someone is willing to hire you just like me.
anyway good luck with whatever u choose to do

certainly not in france.. that's for sure : low wages (sorry : very low wages) , uninteresting jobs most of the time (the good ones are taken very quickly), you have to live in paris most of the time which means you burn 80 % of your salary into rent, food and transport...
when i see job offers in the US i do think most of the time that's i'm dreaming..
