well it's been rough getting this thing to behave the way I envisioned, but the search functionality is coming around:

So what would inspire you all to submit your logos designs and keywords to something like this? The last thing we all have is extra time, but this could be a great resource if the design community would jump on board...

"So what would inspire you all to submit your logos designs and keywords to something like this? "
$ or other forms of trade.

yeah, I figure $$'s always good if it's an option. but it's not. unless I hire someone in India to bust their ass and upload hundreds of identities.
the idea is that designers contribute their own portfolio, as they're in the best position to assign relevant keywords for their creations. I'm trying to create something with really smart and useful descriptive information for designers. not just something that returns a coke logo when you search for 'coke'.

I think a link to the designers business and/or personal site would be a nice gesture.

I agree

It's kind of already been done. I've been using this for ages:

The search facility is useless.
I need to be able to narrow my search by sector/company type.
There also appears to be no quality control, which means you have to sift through a load of crap to find something decent.
This is better: http://www.logopond.com/

Maybe if they were catagorized, browsing would be easier. At the moment they are in the order of date uploaded.
- republik80
Categorising would be a start.
There are other logo resources with much more robust search facilities, therefore, they are more popular.

Nice idea, but the search isn't so good. I'd suggest...
Advanced Search
Artist A-Z
Company A-Z
Chronological
Sector
Styling (swoosh, web 2.0 etc).

styling: unpossible.
how will you tell a swoosh from a web2 logo? i mean, this will all overlap and what not..
anyway, i am just talking nonsense here.. this post does not even deserve to be posted as my arguements are weak..
well i only found that out after posting the first few sentences..
you know. i drive myself crazy sometimes!
Does that make me crazy
Does that make me crazy
Does that make me crazy
Possiblybut anyway..
you could add tags to it, like in del.icio.us or flickr..
that'll make it a lot better!

(Sep 19 06, 05:04)In that case the logo goes in Web 2.0 and Swoosh. Searching for either will return the logo.

blastofv, is it possible to add info to already submitted logos?
- blastofv0
Hey Elms, well not easily, but through me, yeah. Part of my whole approach was to keep this as simple as I could. You know – do one thing and make it as useful as possible.
Thus, there's no logging in and maintaining submissions. There are a ton of sites that are more 'community' focused, but that's been a goal of mine.
Email me with your changes if it's as simple as adding your URL, or you can repost the stuff and I'll dump the old ones.

ok, will upload them in the evening. thanks

(Sep 19 06, 03:55)Good recommendations, and thanks to all who posted on this last month. I hadn't seen the rest of this thread.
Botttom line though is that I'm shooting for extensive keywords for each submission, including the basics like industry. Submit keywords that cover anything and everything associated with your design, and people will find it if they search for one of your keywords.
