Anyone know of some good software to synchronize Outlook files between two computers (desktop and laptop)?
Thanks
(yup, searched Google, just looking for any experience/suggestions)

Use the Export Wizard to export your personal files folders, (Calendar, Email, Notes, Contacts, etc) and use the Import wizard to import them into the other machine, is one way. It's a bit complicated but the "Help" helps.
The other way I do it now, is to sync it to my Zire (Palm) from my desktop, then sync the Zire with my laptop, budda-bing... works everytime.
The software I use for that is Chapura (free download and/or comes with the Zire).
It syncs from->to, or to->from, or sync->same. Pretty slick.

I'm assuming you're not on an Exchange Server?
Or could you possibly just not download and delete files off whatever e-mail server you are on?

(Aug 29 06, 18:20)OH yeah... that's a good point. I set my desktop to download the files from the mail server, and I set my laptop NOT to delete the files, so that when I'm on the road, I can get and read email, but when I get home, it downloads and deletes from the server, but is stored on my desktop for long term.
Thanks flavorful for the reminder of this... it's pretty important to your set-up between two computers.
Unfortunately, my mail ISP won't allow a lot of mail storage on their servers, so I have to get it off there fairly often.
Sync'ing Contacts, Calendar, Notes, etc... takes a different approach and you have to use software or Import/Export.

yup, I need to sync everything. Thanks, but it looks like I'll have to keep looking.
No exchange server here. I was thinking about keeping them on my ISP's server, but then it just get's complicated if I want to respond to something, send attachments, reference an old email/attachment (which I do daily).
I have far too many contacts and tons of emails to keep sync'd. I do export files to make backups, but I want to keep it clear as this is my biz and it's growing, so I am trying to keep as organized as possible.

use a usb key drive and store your .pst file on there. connect it to whatever machine you are currently using, and voila.

(Aug 30 06, 04:42)Yup... Mozilla Thunderbird looks and acts just like Outlook, but it can run from a usb thumb drive. In fact, the Open Source Portable Apps, all work really well, and you don't need to have a laptop with you when traveling. It leaves no trace you were on a cyber cafe machine.
Great idea!

Thanks, but that's a lot of trust in a USB drive! I did come across that suggestion, but think I'll try some software first.
The contact info is just too important. I've had someone bump into a USB drive that was sticking out and bend it, destroying it essentially. Doesn't take much.

you can just use the usb drive to shuttle it between machines, and copy it locally to actually use.
or.. is vpn an option? we use exchange server, but i also vpn in to the office from the road and open my local .pst archive.
