Version4, please read above..i think your view on not using credit is extremely outdated. Why not have your money work for you? earning more cash? You're going to spend anyway...take advantage of the system. This is what seperates most people who are "well off" and those who make the same amount but still struggle by...especially during retirement years.

(Aug 30 06, 09:56)i have investments which work for me. if the credit card rewards thing works for you, super...i used it for a while. then i stepped outside of it and realised i was getting marginal benefits and using credit when it was much easier to just save up a little.
i also believe that there's something good about not always getting to buy whatever i want right then.

regarding the "emergencies" that were mentioned above, those always come up and i totally get that. it took me a long time to build up an emergency fund which i think is big enough to cushion a real emergency.
it's tough to do but the peace of mind is well worth it.
