tk,
Rome was started by josh reid in 2001, he worked at burton for many years. He designed burtons top selling board, the custom, for if i remember right 8 years. He left, with burtons blessing, to start his own company. He got investors, bought an old burton factory and started Rome.
I've been riding them since their 2nd year. It was hard finding a shop that carried them. Only 2 in michigan at that time. Most shops can't afford the buy-in/risk of bringing in a new product that might not sell. Holding onto last years product is not very profitable. So many don't, but the words really starting to get around. I'm a HUGE supporter of them. Not just because I get free crap, but because i think they offer a superior product. When/if we all get out west this winter I'll let anyone ride what I got. I've not had one person not switch to them when it's time to buy a new board... which says a lot.
Oh, and so far i've got about 6 people for at least 1 trip out west. All are welcome, as long as everyones down for fun, riding, some drinking and no DRAMA.

Palmer is bad. Rome is pimp, but i ride allian :) i love the snap in the boards and think blackman is a sick rider. I also think Sims makes a sweet board.

palmer blows.
i like the mervin products and glissade products. i guess its a NW thing....

I would never ride a Plamer - but that site is slick.
I'm all about Rome - I think that'll be my new season purchase. That or batalleon...

I've rode a lot of boards, and I don't think i've ever riden a palmer. But i hear the new GNU's and libtechs are really nice.
Yeah jevad go for the Rome, the anthem/flag(wide) is ~same as the customX only a ton cheaper.

oh well, next time i buy a board.
i think i am good for the next 3yrs.

I rock an Anthem and its great. If I new-board it this year I'd check out Rome for sure. Couple of mates have them too and are real pleased with them.
I noticed Rome advertising for a designer on here a while back, would be a nice job, I guess...

yeah, 3 yrs is about all a board last IMO, of course it all depends on how much you ride it too. But your X is a really really nice ride. burton def. has a huge percent of the market. kids don't even look at anything else. When i teach all the kids are like what kind is that, Rome, oh, i like burton.
But i'm glad to hear the word is starting to spead. The burton forums have a lot of people talking up rome. burtons un.Inc line pretty much started as an answer to rome. But in the end it's about the riding, not what board your rockin. Riding is like therapy, clears your mind, lets you release all the daily bs...

Peaking of..I'm up in vail this weekend and it's lovely to feel the temps drop. It's about 50 today and awesome. Rained all of yesterday and this morning on the top's of the 14ers you could see a light dusting of snow.
It's coming.
