i think it's kinda funny the lengths people goto to replicate the 'flash feel', (without actually using flash). they're never smooth or real enough, and probably twice as much of a nightmare to get working across all browsers & platforms.

i think it is very clever, it runs very very smooth here. finally a flash site that still respects the real browser's scrollbar while still offering some flash functionality charms. also the loading on the spot idea is pretty neat!
love this!

the site is very nice

what i think is disappointing in the pvn often is the lack of appreciation of the idea/concept of a design itself. people immediatly connect it with their judgement on a brand as a whole, or just their products.
a rather biased way of looking at things, not really what you would expect from a good designer.

wow, i thought this was flash, but it isn't! well not all, a lot of it seems AJAX based ..

gucci is mentioned here, so that's where they got the scripts from so it seems:

(Aug 25 06, 17:07)so true.
This site would've behaved much better if made in Flash.

Nice... alot of work no doubt... yet you still get flickers of things popping up, and I'd say the interface was probably compromised in places to allow for the technology... I can imagine they took functions that worked well
But a bloody good job anyway

(Aug 25 06, 22:21)who says this? flash can be buggy as fuck in terms of smoothness. i am surprised at the schmoovness here. this site is as smooth as a shaven eel in a pool of olive oil..

As per this site working better in Flash : it is true that some of the motion could be smother if this were a .swf, but that's not really the point of the site. At it's core, it's a very elegant shopping cart. You can buy anything you see right from the pages. This is certainly handled better in HTML.
I hope more and more sites are going to forgo the fine visual details Flash can offer in order to give their customers more tools, better usability, deep URLs and search optimization - all things people on the web seem to care about more than a beutifull animation. We'll see.
