Hey newstodayers:
I've been working on a logo for a company in Ohio handling Garage Door Systems (GDS).
The first four is to be concentrated on. the last four is just for the hell of it.
I'm still whipping up some more, but tell me what you think so far. Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks!

i like the 3rd logo in the first set. having the text below the garage doors works better (for me, at least) than the text positioning in the other examples. you might want to try the gds font from the 4th logo in there, too.

bottom right in the top 4 for me. i'd just try to refine where the line "garage door systems" site. it lines up with the right hand side but not the left.

even though I'd like to tear you a new one because you're a girl who won't have sex with me, I will have to say you are a good designer. unlike that BOWOW guy who can eat a bag of dicks

it feels very educational. not to be sexist either, but i would assume that garage door systems would have a mainly male client base and may need a more masculine feel to convey and sell the product/service

Maybe try going with a raw metal look or something like that?

lets not be cliche by any means

i guess it depends if it's for a residential or industrial garage doors, I have no ploblem with the look and feel if its for nice looking residential homes ... but your right if its for industry it could come across a little ... soft. Nice work though

I didn't even read it. too feminine for garage doors. needs dark colors with sturdier type

to me it says domesticity. it says your son can grow up to be a red blooded punk rebel and move his drum set and whisky bottle collection into here throw up a bunch of egg cartons for a good sound proofing gymnasium of teenagehood. i like it.

maybe try changing the colours first - to get a more 'domestic' feel.
i think the orange is a bit too soft.

i like the second row first one (so number 3 i guess) a lot. looks very nice.
that said, it totally gives a feel of "your good guy garage install man" and if this is not the clients target audience...ie. what some have stated above (more of an industrial building client target audience) then it def. needs to be reworked.
i should have read your whole post. sorry. but if my gut feeling on your audience is correct, then you def. got a winner with #3!

Sorry, i should have mentioned that they install for residential and commercial buildings.

I guess stick with dark tones or a mix of both
