editors are biting interpol so hard.

interpol just came up on my shuffle the other day and I was wondering what happened to them? They were all over the place for like 2 years and now I haven't seen or heard anything.

Well, 2 years ago was when 'Antics' came out.

nicely put
I quite like the editors and interpol...but yeah they are doing nothing new..

there taking joy divisions sound to the next level but ive had people hear a interpol / editors song side by side and cant tell the difference, joy division was much more depressing and less upbeat as either of the newer bands. but editors definently are playing on interpols popularity , interpol are working on there new album and re-released antics with bonus mixes / remixes a while back. there not going away, a side note on joy division i cant wait for the movie about ian curtis the singer from JD.

comparing bands to joy division is so 2003
:P

Interpol kinda bores me, except for Slow Hands, their homage to Eric Clapton.
I prefer Editors, I was just thinking earlier that they sound like what JD should have sounded like in the 80s. I love the echo-ey effect they use for their guitars. Wish I could make their SF show tomorrow.

Interpol are more of a studio band, when they play live, it's not better than what you hear off their cd. We haven't heard from them for a while as they're holed up in their mother's basement working on the next studio album.

What do you think this site is? Fucking Smash Hits?

Bauhaus

they sound very similar but they are both really good bands, and i still don't get the Joy Division reference that everyone tags on them. Joy Division was never that melodic. They were a lot edgier in that Gang of Four way.

Interpol.
Better sound and more original lyrics.

I prefer to wallow with Interpol, if I'm of a mind to

interpol. and the antics remixed ep is fucking brilliant. not usually one for remixed things but it's so fucking good

I love this thread.
I used to bitch about Editors being too similar to Interpol, but then realise that a 'sound' isn't copyrighted....what about all the heavy metal bands that sound really similar? Same as design really - justy because one person does a certain style, it doesn't mean that it's only to be used by them.
I much prefer interpol because there's more enigma to them and they're much more avant garde than editors. I think they're great live, becasue they're so tight and don't speak at all during the show. Stage presence doesn't always have to be jumping around and chatting to the crowd (the antithesis of The Go Team perhaps?).
The JD referenec is inevitable but JD were much darker than interpol and editors are – the newer bands take the JD influence into a sound that fits in today's indie-pop environment.
I do wish Interpol would record some more though...

Interpol simply cause they are amazing live, and the bassist looks cool :D plus the lead guitarist dances cool aswell.
