I want to leave my company. I have amassed 3 yr's worth of work, it's time to go. My past colleagues have all been sued or been publicly shouted at by my boss for using the company's work for their interviewswithout his consent. Much of my best work is with this company, I can't risk getting fired or jump ship without having somewhere safe to land first.I hate working here so much I have reoccuring dreams about failing my degree. What would you do?

I seriously wouldn't give a fuck about that mug, just use what you want to get where you want, he never need know - and I wouldn't hesitate to just leave and freelance until you find something. Fuck working at places you hate, as the clichés go: 'life's too short' - 'you're worth more than that' and all that jazz

I would give a f*ck about bosses who dont give a f*ck about you

yep, rasko is right, as usual.
Get a nice work samples .pdf together, start sending it everywhere you think you'd want to work, whether they're hiring or not to at least introduce yourself and go from there...
I was sorta in the same boat a couple years ago and it took me a while, but eventually I've gotten to where I wanted to be. I stayed in a job for 5 years that I absolutely hated for 3 the last years of it and I'm still getting over the bitterness, so do it now and do it swiftly!!

you were at concrete for 5 years, mike? Have we been on NT that long?
- rasko40
We have already been here an eternity, our lives are vanishing before our eyes. We are time criminals, walking ghosts. Nothingness.

that's why i left a company that i thought was highly ranked and seriously respected.
once inside it seemed to be run by people who don't give a shit about anything or anyone axcept their own bank account.
fuckers.

no I was only at concrete for a year, I was referring to the other studio that I was at prior...
but yes we've seen a lot of faces come and go over the last 5 years...
//best years of my life though...

(Jul 22 06, 03:01)It's simple. I had the same problem a few years ago. From your domain name for your 'normal' portfolio create another domain name from the same host. I know with hostway you can have multiple domain names under the same account.
Anyways, create a new site with all of your work and only give that link out when applying for a job. Put that link on your resume.
Kind of like what I do. I have 2 sites, one I only show when I interview and my normal one that you see linked in my profile.
Also note, I just got hired on at a place 4 weeks ago. When they asked me "can we contact your previous employer" I got pretty scared that if I said no I wouldn't get the job. Truth be told the HR lady told me 99% of people say "No I'd rather you not" as 99% of people have a job and are looking for another. They only ask that question in case you currently don't have a job so they can call to make sure you actually worked where you do.
Good luck.

continue working there. fear is an emotion you shouldn't ignore. it's there to warn you and keep you inline. besides, you always have casual fridays.
