I'm still not sure what I want to do in my life, but I hope I don't have to interact with people too much.

I ponder this all the time.
I hate that account handlers are apparently these days the be all and end all in the design industry, yet are often egotistical, incompetent twats.
Unfortunately I cant think of what to do, or if I do come up with something, then I cant think how to do it.
I have terrible mental blocks.

Anyone considering teaching higher education? My dream was to be a professor, and I always thought I could do better than a lot of the arrogant pricks I had in college. I sort of gave up the dream because I thought I'd never be smart enough or lucky enough to make it work for me.

Yeah tk...I understand how that could be a downer. I would study it for a few years, then architect my own house and try to build a business off the back of that.
Ah pipe dreams....

(Jun 21 06, 10:08)Depending on the school, you would either need a fair bit of education yourself min Masters, or a shit load of industry experience.
Unless of course you were just teaching a software prog. Community colleges, will take pretty much anyone with enough skill in that regard. Most of these positions are part time though.

what it is I have no idea,
but I am not going to be doing this shit for the rest of my life. Want to sell all my stuff and move to Bali and dissapear.

Very tue canuck...I've been looking into some grad schools in my general area, but I'm not convinced that its for me yet. I'm scared I'd be mixing in with a bunch of pretentious and elitist artists, and really I'm just a crappy designer. I still need to figure things out. That's why I'm working in design for now.

i like my jawb.
if design didn't pay, I'd still do it, I'd just be hella picky who I work with/for.

To be a prof you'd also have to write textbooks and crap.

i see myself getting into teaching ca. 25 yrs. from now when I'm sick of the odd hours in the design world. Just do the occasional freelance gig on the side to stay up on things.

i am hearing more and more about designers feeling uncertain of their future in this industry. i think there are so many path you can take.
there's no such thing as a perfect job. you'll end up disliking once you start a new one. it's just a matter of how you can re-invent yourself within.

sweet, nocomply, I want you as my prof!

i would like to be an interior designer/decorator or a sucessful artist.

I wouldn't mind going into medicine. Other than the retarded amount of schooling, and the costs, it would be pretty rewarding.

on second thought, slingin caine may be a more profitable venture.

I want to save up the Design dollars and buy a few small apartment buildings, enough to sustain a modest lifestyle with plenty of time to paint.
When I'm too old to look after them - sell em and retire on that.
