I loaded adobe creative suite 2 recently on my computer and i've noticed that CS2 is helluva lot slower than CS1.
anybody else had similar problems?

yeah, sluggish, but it's packed with heaps of stuff I don't ever use. Try disabling some plug-ins maybe...

I find is way faster than CS1 + tons of new feats. that make my day a hell of a lot easier!
Buy more RAM cheapskate! :)

I haven't had any problems, but then again Illustrator has always been a memory hog.

I haven't noticed much of a performance difference.
but Photoshop CS2 is so sweet. I love option dragging layers and even layer effects in the layer pallet to duplicate them. I love how you click with the white arrow and you select the layer you actually want, not the stupid invisible layer highest in the stack.
many other things too

dragging the layer style isn't a new effect fyi

Using CS1 at the moment, upgrading to CS2 soon. Can't f-ing wait.
Super sweet!
*wow, that was worth posting...

I installed the trial version of Illustrator CS2 last week on a 2Ghz laptop with 512 megs of ram. I just needed CS2 to open a file that wasn;t saved down. Ran like shit. But CS1 worked fine. Please don't make the standard 2 gigs of ram to open a 30kb AI file.

Photoshop feels as fast to me. I love how you can convert anything to a smart object not just illustrator type content. Great for low res graphics. It's kinda close to perfect.

CS2 is slow if you don't have a fast computer, like me.

Yeah, CS2 is WAY slower on my G4 PB...than CS1. It eats up processor speed...on a G5 can't really tell.

(Jun 7 06, 08:29)thanks kelpie... you've answered my question - do not buy intel mac, yet.

This has been discussed. I had the same problems with CS2 running like shite. I tried almost everything, but nothing worked until I got the updates from Adobe. They finally released photoshop 9.0.1. Should solve your problems.

someone said on another thread CS2 for the PC on an intel mac actually runs decent for him. ridiculous, expensive workaround but, if you have already bought an intel mac... otherwise, yes, do not buy mac.
