i was considering some kind of eye activity monitoring technology or maybe it was relying on my cursor movement for insight.
my facial expression resembled saucers!

I also wondered about the cursor movement, and if it noticed me going over to the calculator mode in Windows.

what it does is give you a different chart on every refresh. each chart is set up so that no matter what you click, there is a fixed answer for all the possible solutions.
for example, look at the number 50. remember the symbol, click the button, then try again. the symbols have all re-arranged.

there is no margin of error because each time you try again the order of the symbols has changed to fit the recurring 9 element.

There are two operations you need to do with your number before looking it up in the table, and this is bascially the trick
Those two operations are designed to return only one of this set of numbers: 9, 18, 27, 36, 45 ... if you can see the pattern. You will see that those numbers always share the same symbol. The symbol changes for each guess
