the last four decades have had cultural styles/trends that were very obvious during those times-- and are even admired now b/c of.
Examples:(60s-rock,hippies and peace,70s-funk and parties,80s-hiphop and cheesy pop-culture,90s-grunge,rave,univ... anticipation of new millenium).well its 2006. in your opinion, what are you really feeling as the general cultural styles and trends?
thanks in advance for your respectable feedback!-]

Hippies playing funk at Rave parties watching ironic has beens of 80's pop culture on VH1 while listening to hiphop to keep it real while becoming nostalgic for grunge...
That and Terror and war and fascist chic...

thanks blueOne!
true, this decade does seem like a war decade w/o a hippie movement.in my personal broad perception, i guess you could say we are now full-force in the digital age, and it in itself plays the major role on our style and trends.
however, i'm still looking for more detailed cultural styles that can be defined for our current decade... such as music, art, clothing, or obvious changes in the American way of thought.

i do get out -- its just i want your input!

of course i must've been entirely thinking of America based on the past trends i mentioned.however, i failed to remember how diverse this NT communitiy is.
so of course, on a universal level, what are the trends of this decade that we are gonna recognize in the future as 'worth bringing back' and recognizing as hip. For example, the trend of "80s night" in nearly every night club across America. And remember in the 90s the 70s were back in ?!?

I still can't believe my favorite music from the 90s is already 'old school'...

Graphic styles: paint drips, loose hands on illustration, more recently, clean, discoey san serif typography with light effects and shimmering effects
Movies: anything redone that shouldn't have been. Every Hollywood blockbuster will have a few names, a forgettable plot and the only true value will be in the CGI - if you're lucky.
Clothes: high art denim, some hippy chic graffitti
Politics: White, rich Americans are superior and know better how you should live or when yous shouldn't live.
Music: unfortnately it's still a parade of untalented rappers sporting the same old cliches of hos and waving cash in the video cameras during their videos. Dig deep enough and you'll find some great music of any style you want. They're just not making much money.

This decade seems so generic, like we're all waiting for something to happen but it just isnt.
Maybe I'm getting older.
- ribit0
So where did it all go wrong? Has everything good been done already?
- neue75_bold0
Let it be known as the decade in which I lost interest in life...
- Jnr_Madison0
I read a while back that a lot of people in their mid to late twenties have a sort of mid life crisis and feel disjointed from the world.
I like to believe this. Although I have a rather romantic memory, only recalling things I like to believe are true.

(May 21 06, 09:08)I sort of agree, but then again I can think of a few world-changing events and products from after the millennium.
I think it's more of a factor that everyone feels this way about the present.

Good point Jaline. I think it's much easier to judge a decade once it's over and you can put events in historical perspective. I remember hearing the same complaints that the 90s and 80s were generic.
The 70s however, was the decade of bad taste.
