There are reasons why marriage has been traditionally defined as being exclusively between a man and a woman (in addition to the numerous ones cited in the article i linked above)...
(Think Darwinian here.)
1. Men and women can reproduce and ensure survival of the race.
2. Intercourse between a man and a woman does not wreak havoc on the human immune system like homosexual intercourse does, and thus prolongs life spans and ensures more offspring.
