I'd like to think that America is a bit more progressive than Saudi Arabia.

point is that the national language just isn't an important issue and is just being paraded out to rally the republican base.
mrdobolina
(May 19 06, 09:56)of course. welcome to the world of politics.
wait, what were we talking about again?
oh yeah politics.

wow, thanks jazx, we couldn't have figured that out without your fascinating insight.

(May 19 06, 09:58)what I was going to say...

country was founded under a certain set of moral and religious beliefs. in fact, that's why they had come in the first place. that'll never change. beating a dead horse here.
regardless of why someone is a homosexual.

Point is, what did that take to pass through? One day? A week? I believe congress handles quite a few things during the year, big and small.
Also, do you really give a damn? Do you think congress stops what they are doing, drops everything and passes this sort of thing while nothing else gets accomplished? I wonder how many lackies your Democratic boy in Wisconsin has working for him writing up his bills and his legislation... or did you think he actually does that himself while buring the midnight oil?
Puh-lease.

I think, in a sense, this thread demonstrates how successful the Repubs are with their smoke and mirrors strategy. Everyone is so caught up in their own outrage (both sides) that the real issues get buried.

(May 19 06, 10:19)absolutely, but I wouldn't call it smoke and mirrors. I'd call it intelligent politics, because it's obviously working
- mrdobolina0
my democratic boy?
ease up, o reilly.
- monkeyshine0
intelligent politics would be actually working on legislation that truly impacts our lives; politicians being accountable for their own behavior and to their constituents, and a return to integrity with a tad of idealism.

(May 19 06, 10:19)The real issue here is have we found Jimmy Hoffa.

mrdobolina I only meant "your democratic boy" as you always are talking about Feingold as he's from your State.
His name was slipping my mind as I was typing before. Had to give you as much general info about him as possible.

nice site, Deanna

(May 19 06, 10:24)I agree with you, but I'm referring to winning the vote and controlling the house.
you guys crack me up sometimes, acting as if the Dems would have approved gay marriage and not have had invaded Iraq.
face it, it's all the same
- monkeyshine0
thanks, Jaline
oh, jazx...no one rides a fence better than you. sounds a bit gay cowboyish.
- mrdobolina0

(May 19 06, 10:31)nope
- mpfree0
you're full of shit.
notice how you said Al Gore, because you know damn well there is documentation clearly stating that Kerry wanted to send even more troops over there than what Bushie originally had sent.
and monkeyshine that's the problem with you guys, you want to polarize everything. Moderates such as myself are looked at in a negative light.

Jaline, no offense, you're Canadian, American political threads really shouldn't concern you, especially when they deal with something such as this, which has no bearing on your life.

(May 19 06, 10:39)It's true that in Canada the decision to change from Liberal to Conservative leads to more troops and war time (and vice-versa), but to say that stuff that happens in the USA doesn't affect Canadians is just ridiculous.
