I am not really liking it.
Is it just me or does it look way to fat? I mean we're going to be stuck with this design for a few years and I really hoped for something smaller and lighter from Apple considering that this is a major revision.
Almost looks like a toy computer with the fat boarder around the screen and the spaced out keys.
nice specs though, apart from the integrated graphics fuck up.
I don't want a 15 inch one, but also don't want to drop that much on a fat 13" without a gpu.
damn you apple

I was talking to a friend of mine who is a store manager at the Apple store in midtown (NYC) and he mentioned how so many designers have mistakenly bought the MacBook thinking that it could do the work that they need, only to return it a week later because MacBook isn't compatible with the programs we use. Everything runs incredibly slow and sluggish. Turns out that the machine is for our mothers, or peers that aren't designers at all. He mentioned this to the customers several times, only to be ignored. Those same customers came back in to return the system...He still says the power book is the best one for our type.

PB is old techhnology in process of phasing out. People returning macbooks is good news, as these will reappear as cheaper refurbs.
BTW, isn't this guy supposed to be pushing out the old stock?

I think Macbook Pro is still the way to go, I love the backlit keyboard and I don't think that the new Macbook has that.
It's a really good consumer laptop but not a great design and development tool.

That's the one I have, but first I need to get a new one for my wife. She'll love to have a portable. She's been using the iMac since 99, and pour girl she really needs a new one.
I'll get the MBP next year. =)
And by the way, to who complains about the performance of the Intel Macs, stop complaining. You should know better than that! Most apps have not been recompiled! If speed is an issue for you, stick with the G4s and G5s until all the apps are Universal. Like next year!
