I really like macs.. I just don't really like the os usability. Tiny things.. like, I always have problem selecting text on osx. Somehow it doesn't snap in like on windows.. I dunno.. It might be the mouse.
I know, not only it sounds heretic but retarded.

Mac Book Poo,
I got a 2.0 Mac book pro not 6 weeks ago, was happy with it until last night when I tried to watch a rental DVD movie, (it was the assasination of Richard Nixon for those interested, very good film)
anyway, the disk wouldnt play properly " seems the little video shop sticker produces enough oscillation to render the video in a pixilated mess "Now how come my £1700 pro mac wont play the disk, when my iBook does ? My G4 powerbook does, my G5 does, my £99 dvd player does ?
even my 5 year old pc at work does !I cant believe apple are putting superdives in thier top end machines that arnt as robust at my mums dvd deck !
I took it into the apple store in Birmingham, they tried the same disk in thier mac book pro, guess what ? thats right same damn thing..
Dont know who to complain to next.. any suggestions, I'm thinking of applecare, or sending the whole thing back..

Check out these links and read about the graphics card (I know it's for a mini, but it's the same graphics card in the macbook)
http://www.applelinks.com/index.…
search for: Media Accelerator (GMA) 950 unitand this is a short read:

read the comments at the bottom as well.
the 13" black macbook looks sick, but the graphics card really turns me off onto the idea of purchasing one.
Plus, you aren't able to upgrade to a 7200rpm harddrive which really helps out on performance.

I was thinking about that, but I'm not sure what size the HDD is. Are all laptop HDDs the same for apple? Does that void any warranty or apple care?

nice. it's matte, innit?
the only thing that's bad is the fact that it looks more like a Dell notebook now..

I have to take a buddy to the Apple store this weekend. He wants to buy an iMac and all the gadgets that come with it. It's going to be cool for me helping him get set up but it's going to suck balls for me watching him drop cash for all this great stuff that I can't have.
:(

why does the black get the larger hd and the higher price

the keyboard looks cool yet suspicious, calculator-like. after I touched mb pro keyboard I don't trust apple on this issue. keyboard is the key and mb pro keys have cheap chinese toy look, shape and feel to me. the powerbook was much better in this category

DVDPLAYER:
Home theater dvd players are massively more error resistant than computer DVD drives - it's just the nature of the beast. They can have more leeway because there is no possibility of data corruption on a DVD player versus your PC/Mac.The slimmer the drive, the worse it will do with lower quality or scratched DVDs.
HARD DRIVE:
the MacBook harddrive is user replacable. Apple will nto replace or warranty THAT drive if it fails, however. It does not otherwise void your warranty.
But, to be sure, if something goes wrong they'll try to blame your aftermarket harddrive first. :)BLACKNESS:
It's really interesting how Apple has been positioning its products as of late - they've always been extremely strategic in the features, colors, and especially pricepoint of their products.
Usually doing everything they can to push people to a specific model, while still offering a small but tantalizing addition for "just" a couple hundred dollars more - like, the color black.
It's equal parts evil and in genius.
Making people pay a premium for something more "rare" and desirable.
(it's "rare" because there are fewer produced - and because it's at the higher price point it seems more valuable than it really is)Most likely, after this first round of sales - they'll bring everything down and offer everything in white AND black.
Kind of ridiculous, and a little frustrating given how nazi-like Apple is with their configuration options.
But hell, it doesn't seem to be hurting them now . . .
